Berkeley Site
Ala
Costa headquarters are based in our Berkeley Center located
adjacent to Cedar/Rose Park. The center has been in operation
for over 33 years. Students are grouped based on age and skill
level. Classrooms include the Explorers, Adventurers, Voyagers, Navigators
and the Apartment.
The park's large playing field offers many recreational opportunities,
such as soccer, basketball, and tennis, along with play areas
for both tots and school-age children. Centrally located close
to BART, public transportation and nearby businesses, the
site is perfect for community outings. The City of Berkeley generously allows us use of the
building. Map to the Berkeley Site.
Berkeley Center
Oakland Site
Ala
Costa's newest program is located in East Oakland near The
Thurgood Marshall School. This center was built in response
to the strong demand for more services. In addition to the
50 students who were enrolled at the Berkeley Center, there
were 100 students waiting to get in. In order to meet the
needs of our Oakland and City of Alameda families, we choose
to build in the East Oakland location. We are also adjacent
to the large grassy Hellman Park. The close approximity to
the schools offers many opportunities for partnerships. The
Hellman Park has a large playing field, a beautiful view and
a fenced in play area. Since it is difficult to access public
transportation from this site, The Y & H Soda Foundation generously provided funds to purchase a van. Map to the Oakland Site.
Thank you to Regional Center of the East Bay, Northern California Community Loan Fund and The San Francisco Foundation for making the Oakland
Center possible.
